The BPE Associateship
The National Exhibitions which are members of the BPE (British Photographic Exhibitions) offer a Crown award system to reward photographers for success in having works accepted for national exhibitions. Up to and including the 5 crown award, a photographer must have a minimum of 300 accepted works in member exhibitions. Those achieving the 5 Crown Award are then invited to move on to the Associateship Award, which requires a minimum of a further 100 acceptances in members exhibitions plus twenty national awards using at least 10 different pieces of work, all to be gained after achieving the 5 Crown Award. Shrewsbury Exhibition
Delighted with my results from the Shrewsbury Exhibition, where I received nine acceptances (surprisingly, including two in the Landscape section) and two awards. Even more pleased with the score of 14 for my newest image “The Proposal” (below). The couple was spotted in the Royal Mile at the Edinburgh Festival, promoting their show. Although they were holding bunches of leaflets, I managed to hide those from the shot and the young couple were happy to create this pose for me (hope nobody else got it!!!). The moorland background completed the scene. Many of my current batch of images have a sort of “Wuthering Heights” theme, influenced by living in Saddleworth…
