The Making of the Media City Panoramas
I haven’t done any really low light outdoor photography in some time, so John and I made our way to Salford Quays in the late afternoon so that we could pick the absolute best time to start taking our photos. At this point I should say (as most of my photographic friends know) that I hate using a tripod. But for this outing a tripod and a good firm head were required. Cityscapes and patterns
A scorching hot day in May at Salford Quays…and a clear blue sky meant that the best way to use the light in the early part of the evening was in seeking out pattern pictures. Later on the setting sun gave some lovely colours and tones to the buildings at Media City. The last three pictures, including the two panoramas, were processed with HDR from five bracketed exposures.

Return to Man
Seems a long time since I posted, but I guess that just means I’ve been too busy. Part of the “being busy” was a return trip to the Isle of Man, this time as the guest of Western IOM PS, but also to visit Southern PS and Isle of Man PS. All three clubs made us most welcome and our stay at the Glen Helen Inn was very comfortable. Mannanan had raised his cloak for the occasion and allowed the sun to shine on us for a good part of our 4 day trip and I was able to take a few pictures in our time off from making visits…
