• Cumbrian Spring

Most of my friends already know that I don’t manage to get up for a dawn shoot very often…I can think of three or four times is all. Last week I was lecturing in Cumbria and a photo-friend, who lives in the area, offered to spend time with me photographing the northern lakes. No surprise that it was almost 12 noon by the time I was ready to leave Cockermouth. All things considered, we were very lucky, with some lovely mild weather (for March) and calm waters on Buttermere and Crummock Water. The Buttermere pines are a favourite subject for many photographers but it is probably 20 years since…

  • Birds May 2016 Pikelow Farm

Nature photography is becoming addictive. This could be my last visit to the hide at Pikelow for a while…as there should be plenty of insects around in the next few weeks to occupy my lens and my time…while many of the birds will undergo their summer moult. I’ve had a look through the shots that I took last week and chosen a few favourites…when I get a chance, I’ll do a better processing on some of them and print a few of the best ones.

  • Wigan 10 win GB Cup Nature and Open Sections

At then end of my second year with Wigan 10 Foto Club, was very pleased that we have again won both sections of the Great British Cup. This is run by the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain for their member clubs. This year almost British GB photo clubs entered the contest in each of the two sections. The following were my images that W10 chose to represent them in the Open Section: Below are my nature images that were used:
