Insects
It’s July already and days to be out photographing insects have been few and disappointingly cold! However, with the warmer weather, damselflies and dragonflies are on the wing and butterflies are in evidence. I took the following photographs on a couple of afternoon outings the end of June and early July. One of the pre-requisites this year was to obtain a pair of wellies! This allowed me to venture further into the edge of ponds, giving myself a bit more of a chance to catch the flighty critters. In retrospect, maybe a set of waders would have been a better idea!

Humber Estuary at Cleethorpes
A couple of weeks ago I was invited to help open the joint Exhibition of Cleethorpes Camera Club and Grimsby Photographic Society and to speak at each of the Cleethorpes clubs on the following two days. It was also a wonderful opportunity to catch up with my long-term friend Barbara and take a few photographs. Southport Exhibition of Photography 2015 This year, Southport Photographic Society are celebrating their 68th Annual Open Exhibition of Photography, run under the auspices of the BPE (British Photographic Exhibitions). I feel that I have had a great affinity for Southport Photographic Society for many years and I hope that I am seen as a friend of the club by their members. Southport was one of the first clubs where I judged a regular photographic competition and one of the first where I delivered a lecture, back in what now seems to be the mist of time and it was the first BPE Exhibition of Photography that I entered, the first…
