    Yesterday I wandered into the realm of photographing insects. This is something I am not totally new to, having dabbled a bit with damselflies and butterflies in the good old days of film, but it’s at least 20 years since I dabbled and even then I was no expert.   • An Evening at Salford Quays

    It’s become a bit of a Joke that club meetings with Wigan 10 have been blessed with fantastic weather and outings with Oldham Photographic Society have been invariably subject to poor light and heavy rain. Imagine my surprise, therefore, when OPS members met up at Salford Quays last Thursday evening to interesting and improving light. I had arrived late afternoon, before some of the other members and was treated to some good early light.   • Racing on the Mersey

    On the basis that I’ll try anything once, I decided to try a little water sport fun. We have visited the Mersey River Festival a number of times over the years and tended to stay in the docks to capture pictures of street performers and the like. This year we went along purely for the water sport, to try our hand at something new. There was plenty of opportunity to get to the front of the queue to photograph the Zap Cat racing – in fact, there was no queue.
