A little light frost
Last night was probably the coldest night of the year so far and this morning was a light frost on the garden. here’s little snap that seemed to work quite well in monochrome.

Winter is coming!
I just can’t believe that the last time I posted on this page was July. It was July when I started to write a book and it has taken so many months out of my life that photography has had to come further down my list, but the first draft is within sight of being finished and I now have a little bit more time to myself. Don’t tell anyone though, as I am sure that they will find something that needs to be done! To mark my return to the blog, here are a couple little portraits, taken at Whitby earlier this month.

Arthropods (mini beasts)
This summer has been very frustrating in terms the small numbers of insects and other mini beasts around here. It has been so very cool and wet…until last week that is. Only in the last few days have I seen a few bees collecting pollen and one or two garden cross spiders making webs in the garden. Hover flies are at last in some number. The local nature reserves have been lacking in damselflies but just a few are around at last. Yesterday, I had a moderately successful afternoon bug hunting and I have combined my finds, in the gallery below, with those from an expedition in May. Hope you enjoy!
