Urban Exploration
A few Urbexing shots….urban exploration (Urbexing) is the exploration of abandoned buildings. Our aim was to photograph the decay but to leave the building as it was found – that is, to be very respectful and at all times it is important to do no harm. It is also necessary to be extra careful, as such buildings may have areas that are unsafe. In the processing of these photographs, I have chosen to exaggerate some of the colours and desaturate others to provide my personal romanticised view of the building. Some information on the laws of Trespass here. Do be careful not to cause any damage when entering abandoned buildings.

Spring Birds
I was able to spend a few hours in a bird hide at Pikelow recently. This is a great way to observe bird behaviour and get away from it all for a few hours. We had a fine day with short spells of sunlight, making for some pleasing light on the birds at times. The owner, David, has now built two more hides and put in some pools at Cow Lane and the Summer Hide. Whilst the birds were not as plentiful as we had hoped, blue tits were in abundance. I find blue tits quite difficult to photograph as they seem to fly briefly to a perch before swooping…

Southport Open Exhibition of Photography
Southport Exhibition of Photography 2015 This year, Southport Photographic Society are celebrating their 68th Annual Open Exhibition of Photography, run under the auspices of the BPE (British Photographic Exhibitions). I feel that I have had a great affinity for Southport Photographic Society for many years and I hope that I am seen as a friend of the club by their members.
