Southport Open Exhibition of Photography
Southport Exhibition of Photography 2015
This year, Southport Photographic Society are celebrating their 68th Annual Open Exhibition of Photography, run under the auspices of the BPE (British Photographic Exhibitions).
I feel that I have had a great affinity for Southport Photographic Society for many years and I hope that I am seen as a friend of the club by their members. Southport was one of the first clubs where I judged a regular photographic competition and one of the first where I delivered a lecture, back in what now seems to be the mist of time and it was the first BPE Exhibition of Photography that I entered, the first where I received an award and the first that I judged. I think I have now been a selector at this exhibition three times, possibly four, so it is the one I have judged the most out of all the exhibitions where I have been a selector over the years. As president of my federation it is an exhibition that I helped to open for two successive years and it is an exhibition where I have received some of my best results as an entrant. This year was no exception and I was very pleased to be awarded fifteen acceptances and three awards, including First Place in the Colour Prints section.
My full set of fifteen accepted images, six monochrome, six colour and three nature, can be seen as thumbnails below. Just out of interest, seven are straight shots and eight are “creative”. Larger versions are available in other posts at this site and on my galleries on Prosite. Thanks to all who take the trouble and interest to look.
The Opening Ceremony and presentation of awards is on 14th March at 11am at Christ Church, Lord Street, Southport. PR8 1AA (next to the Town Hall). The accepted Prints will be on display in Wayfarers Arcade (across the road) together with the Members’ Exhibition and the Young Photographers from the 14th March to 29th March.
