Saddleworth Autumn

We walked up our local hill a couple of weeks ago so that I could photograph the Kinder Stones. The hill is called Pots ‘n’ Pans Hill, because all the rocks and boulders scattered at the top look like hardware in an untidy kitchen. Shortly after reaching the top of the hill, the sun went behind a huge black cloud that seemed to stretch all the way to the horizon. After waiting almost an hour, the cloud hadn’t moved much and so we reluctantly started back down the hill. Half way down, suddenly the clouds parted and we had to make a decision whether we had enough energy to climb back up…but set of resolutely anyway…at the top we were treated to about half an hour of lovely low afternoon sunlight before it became overcast and cold and we started back home for a second and final time.

Here is a representative sample from the walk.
