End of Year round up of some of my favourite images from 2014

Photography by Christine Widdall Posted on 31/12/2014 by Christine07/02/2015

My end of the year round up is a selection of some of the pictures I have enjoyed making the most over the past year. To share their blushes, I have left out family portraits…naturally they would be at the very top of the list – pictures that bring back memories of the events of the year, from the birthday of my grand-daughter in January to the birth of my … Read full article…

Cumbria Again

Photography by Christine Widdall Posted on 16/12/2014 by Christine17/02/2015

I was driving back from Scotland yesterday in heavy rain, wondering whether to go straight home or stop off somewhere to do some Christmas shopping. As I drove down the M6 south of Penrith, the sky looked a bit brighter over to the south west…so I took a quick detour off the motorway at Shap and made my way over towards Ambleside. With no particular aim in mind (and shopping … Read full article…

Cumbria

Photography by Christine Widdall Posted on 20/11/2014 by Christine17/02/2015

I had a good couple of days in Cumbria earlier this month. Theoretically the light and colours would provide great opportunities on the two days between giving talks at Keswick, Moreton and Workington. Unfortunately the first day was a complete wash out, with heavy rain throughout most of the day…and the second was, on the whole a bit wishy-washy. Just my luck! Here are a few shots from the second … Read full article…

Square Format

Photography by Christine Widdall Posted on 30/09/2014 by Christine17/10/2014

I’ve heard people decry the use of the square format – in fact one of my very long standing friends in the world of photography positively hates anything SQUARE and in particular anything with the subject in the centre or with symmetry. She and I are pretty much clones of each other except in this one detail…I quite like the square format. The square format was pretty common when I … Read full article…

Are women better photographers than men?

Photography by Christine Widdall Posted on 26/08/2012 by Christine07/02/2015

Are women better photographers than men? As a woman and a photographer my natural instinct is probably to say “yes”. Women are said to be more empathetic and better colour aware than men. Whilst women are fewer in the profession and in the hobby of photography, they seem to win more than their share of prizes…and I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been told, when visiting a photographic club, … Read full article…

Permajet Products

Photography by Christine Widdall Posted on 06/06/2012 by Christine02/12/2012

I always use PermaJet papers for my images and they give superb results in my Exhibition work. Mostly I use Smooth Art Silk and the textured fine art series of papers, which suit my work well.  If you are unsure which paper to buy, PermaJet also do sample packs to help you to find your favourite papers and you can download free ICC profiles from the web site (see links below). PermaJet … Read full article…

Photography by Christine Widdall Posted on 10/12/2011 by Christine02/12/2012

A testimony to how otherwise occupied I’ve been this year – I missed posting altogether in October and November. Hopefully am now back on course with some new work. A Scary one!   … Read full article…

EFIAP

Photography by Christine Widdall Posted on 04/06/2011 by Christine16/07/2012

Today my EFIAP award came through. Most of my photographic friends will know what this is, but for others I should explain that it is the Excellence Award of the International Federation of Photographic Art. These were the images that I submitted as prints with my EFIAP dossier: The Award of EFIAP requires a minimum of 150 Acceptances in FIAP-patronised International Photographic Salons/Exhibitions with minima of 50 different works in … Read full article…
